What families say about us

From our very first phone call, Simon was patient, gentle, and deeply compassionate. Every phone call was answered, and every text and email was replied to promptly, which brought us so much reassurance during an incredibly difficult time.

Candour organised the most beautiful tribute to my Mum, and the support that Simon and the team gave to me during the planning process was second to none. Every detail was carefully considered to ensure that the day ran perfectly.

I really did not expect the process to be so easy. Simon and Sameiko were both wonderful every step of the way. My mother's tribute was perfect and the environmental angle was exactly what we were looking for.

Questions families ask
What do I do when someone dies at home?
If the death was expected, call the treating doctor or palliative care team first so the death can be certified. If it was unexpected, call 000. Once certification is underway, call us on 1300 788 881 at any hour and we will take it from there.
Do I need to call a funeral director straight away?
There is no legal deadline. You can sit with your person for as long as you need. Most families call us within a few hours, but that is a matter of comfort, not obligation. We can attend at any hour once a doctor has certified the death.
How much does a funeral cost in Melbourne?
Costs vary with cremation or burial, venue, and what you choose to include. Our full price list is published on our website, and typical totals for each of our service tiers are shown in full rather than as a starting-from figure.
Where can we hold the funeral?
Almost anywhere. We arrange services in cemetery chapels, gardens, function venues, golf clubs, private homes and on the water, right across Greater Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
Do you serve all of Melbourne, or only the Mornington Peninsula?
Both. We look after families right across Greater Melbourne as well as the Mornington Peninsula. We meet by appointment in Moorabbin and Mornington, at offices across the CBD and greater Melbourne, or in your own home if that is easier.
Can I contact you outside business hours?
Yes. Someone answers 1300 788 881 any hour, day or night. There is no answering service and no queue. You can also text us, or leave an enquiry through this page if you would rather write than speak.
