Funeral goods and services price list

Every fee, every package and every third-party cost, in one place — so you can see what a farewell with us costs before you speak to anyone.

Part 1

A note from Candour

Transparency has been part of how we work since Candour began — it is where our name comes from. Whether you are planning ahead, comparing options or making decisions for someone you love, you should be able to see clearly what we offer and what it costs.

What follows is the complete picture: every service, every package and every disbursement. We have itemised it all so you can see how the parts fit together, and kept the language as plain as we can. No document captures the conversation that usually matters most, though. The best way to understand what is right for your family is to sit with one of our funeral arrangers — by phone, in our office or at home. There is no obligation and no cost.

Part 2

How to read this list

This price list is in three parts.

  • Our goods and services — what Candour itself provides, with a price for each.
  • Our packages — combinations of those goods and services for cremation, burial and memorial services, each with its total.
  • Disbursements — third-party costs (cemeteries, crematoria, celebrants, doctors’ certificates, hire vehicles, audio-visual hire and so on) that Candour pays on your behalf and passes on at cost. We do not add a margin to a disbursement.

The total cost of any funeral is the goods and services you choose from us, plus the disbursements that apply to your circumstances. Our packages do not include a coffin, flowers, a celebrant or catering: those are chosen at the arrangement and added, so the total is built around what your family wants rather than what a package assumes.

Where a price varies — a cemetery’s fee depends on the type of grave, for example — we give a starting figure or a range so you can plan with confidence.

Part 3

Our packages at a glance

Each total is what a package costs before the coffin, flowers, celebrant, catering and any other extras you choose. What each one includes is set out in Parts 5 to 7.

Least expensive package$4,765Unattended cremation — Altona, Fawkner or Lilydale

The Unattended cremation at Altona, Fawkner or Lilydale Memorial Park is the least expensive package we offer. Like all our packages it does not include a coffin. With our least expensive coffin — the cardboard coffin at $629 — the complete cost is $5,394, with nothing else to add unless your circumstances bring in a further disbursement, such as a transfer from beyond 50 kilometres. At Bunurong Memorial Park or Springvale Botanical Cemetery the same package is $4,845; the difference is the crematorium’s own fee. The disbursements inside it — the crematorium’s fee, the second doctor’s cremation certificate and the death certificate — are estimated in Part 8.

Our goods and services

Each price below is the maximum we charge for that item. Where a price is the same for a cremation and a burial, it appears once.

Professional service fee — what it covers

Our professional service fee is the in-house work and the overhead behind every funeral. It is shown as its own line on every itemised statement and invoice. It covers:

  • the first conversation, arrangement meetings and ongoing support for the family, including 24-hour contact;
  • preparing and lodging every document, registering the death, applying for the death certificate and our own administration;
  • booking the venue, celebrant, florist, streaming, cemetery or crematorium; ordering the coffin and printed materials; preparing the order of proceedings; and access to our full supplier network;
  • our share of overheads — premises, insurance, training, professional registration and 24-hour on-call availability.

Memorial services

A memorial service is a farewell without the person present — usually because the cremation comes first. It is the same package as the farewell chosen: the professional service fee already covers the arrangements. On the day there is no hearse, so conducting is reduced.

When we handle the cremation, the package includes delivery to the crematorium ($550). When the cremation has already taken place elsewhere, that delivery is not needed and the price is lower by the same amount.

Memorial serviceWe handle the cremationCremated elsewhere
SimpleAt a cemetery chapel.$8,777$8,227
CelebratedAt a venue of your choice.$11,412$10,862
ConciergeAny venue, with a dedicated senior arranger.$16,227$15,677

Each memorial service includes everything its farewell includes in Part 5 except the hearse, with conducting at the memorial rate in Part 4. Flowers, a celebrant, printed materials and catering are chosen at the arrangement and added.

Disbursements

A disbursement is a third-party fee — paid to a cemetery, crematorium, government registry, doctor, celebrant, hire company, audio-visual supplier or caterer — that Candour pays on your behalf and passes on to you at cost. We do not add a margin to a disbursement.

The figures below are reasonable estimates as at September 2026. The actual amount depends on the provider you choose, the day of the week, the type of grave or memorial and the options selected, and there may be disbursements your circumstances call for that are not listed here. We will give you the exact figure for your arrangements in the itemised statement before anything is agreed.

The figures below are starting prices for the interment in a standard new lawn grave. The purchase of the grave itself, the right of interment, is a separate cemetery charge that varies widely; we will give you the exact figure for the cemetery and section you choose.

Disclosures

As required by the Funerals Regulations 2025 (Vic).

Mortuary care centre

Care of the person who has died — mortuary preparation, viewings and the holding facility itself — takes place at our mortuary care centre:

Melbourne Mortuary Pty Ltd
Unit 4, 105 Cochranes Road
Moorabbin VIC 3189

This facility is owned and operated by Melbourne Mortuary Pty Ltd.

Transport of the person who has died

Transfers into our care are carried out by Specialized Transfer Service Pty Ltd in a private mortuary vehicle purpose-built for the role. The person is held at our Moorabbin care centre and moved only for a viewing or for the funeral, as agreed with the family.

Where the coffin is carried ceremonially, a purpose-built hearse is used. Where capacity, scheduling or distance calls for it, a specialist transfer or hearse service may be engaged; in every case Candour’s standards of equipment, presentation and conduct apply when the specialist is chosen.

Crematoria

The crematorium is chosen by the family at the arrangement. Those our families use most often, and the closest to our locations, are:

  • Bunurong Memorial Park, Dandenong South — operated by Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust
  • Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Springvale — operated by Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust
  • Altona Memorial Park, Altona North — operated by Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust
  • Fawkner Memorial Park, Fawkner — operated by Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust
  • Lilydale Memorial Park, Lilydale — operated by Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust

We are glad to arrange a cremation, or a burial, at any place your family wishes.

Before any agreement

Before you enter into any agreement with us for funeral goods and services, we give you a written statement that itemises every cost — the professional service fee, every good or service selected, every disbursement and the total amount payable.

That statement also sets out how to raise a concern with us. Our complaints procedure is published on our feedback and complaints page.

A copy of this price list, the full coffin and casket price list and the full urn price list will be provided free of charge to anyone who asks about our prices.
