The space
A curved glass pavilion resting at the edge of Lake Australis — water and sky on every side, and room for up to 80 guests to gather in the light.
At a glance
The Sanctuary is unlike anywhere else at Bunurong Memorial Park in Dandenong South — a curved glass pavilion resting on the edge of Lake Australis, set apart from the main chapels and reached by its own lakeside path. Floor-to-ceiling glass wraps the room, so the water and sky become part of the service, and chairs rather than fixed pews mean the space can be arranged to suit your family. It seats up to 80 guests for a funeral or memorial service, with a laser projector, large screen, microphones and live streaming, so anyone who can't travel can still be part of the day. A private cremation or graveside burial can follow within the same grounds — a setting families across Melbourne's south-east choose when the place itself should feel like part of the tribute.
